Considering they already sent it to you, I don't think it is important that you give it away at this point...

I'd like a confirmation onm this as well. I deleted it after taking note it wasn't an arenet email address. I'll be pretty pissed if it ends up I can't get the book now.

You'd be more pissed if you got the book but they got hold of your account...

I got the email too. I applied for the Test Krewe, though the email didn't arrive on the email address I submitted with my application.
I'll wait for an official confirmation from Anet.

I got two. One to my main acct's email address and one on my secondary. I've never used the secondary acct for anything but the login info (no forum accounts, no surveys, nothing)...

It looks like the list was sold to them.

Well, I did the survey and immediately ran 2 different scans afterward which turned up nothing.

I don't think this has anything to do with the Test Krewe survey, as the e-mail mentions a 2008 survey that I vaguely remember.

I got the email as well, sounded fishy so I sent it to spam and deleted it. If the email would have been from guild wars I would have at least opened it. Figured better safe then hacked. Would be nice if a dev would tell us if this is legit or not, but even if it is... I don't recall reading anything about accepting the eula or anything else, allowing them to give out my email address.

I responded to the email and nothing happened to me; it has been a week. I think it's because I reformat my computer every 2 days, so it's almost impossible for me to have any key loggers, viruses, or malwares. You shouldn't do it if you worry about the legitimacy of the message.

I also got the email, not sure if i trust it as i don't remember ever signing up for anything or taking an 08 survey...even though i might have. I duuno, i don't really remember these things.

I would prefer to wait for confirmation from anet, or something.

I got it at the email I use for the forums. Not my game email account. Deleted it though, sounds too fishy.

It's legit. They don't even ask for personal info and they already have your email so what exactly are you all afraid of? No fraudster would bother creating an elaborate 30 min survey about the intricacies of Guild Wars. And btw how do you figure they coincidentally happened to target the email addresses of Guild Wars players or that they even know you play Guild Wars to begin with? And why exactly target Guild Wars players anyway instead of say bank accounts, credit cards, some type of money transfer/retail service? Must be the world's most inefficient scammer or the paranoia level is a little too high.

They don't have to ask for personal info. Keylogging software could be downloading inconspicuously in the background. As for how they got your e-mail, some people on Guru2 said they got an e-mail in their e-mail that they registered on the forum with, not their game account. Which means some fansite (guru, GWO) may have been hacked.

And this is not paranoia, considering many people have come on Guru over the years complaining about being hacked. It is a profitable business for gold sellers to steal accounts.

Honestly, why bother filling out this survey now? Just wait a few days until we hear one way or the other if this is safe/real. It isn't like you have to fill it out right now. Just wait a few days.

Actually no, it links directly to surveymonkey.com

No personal info is gathered -- it's a survey only. And what's more likely that someone hacked Guru and decided to make an indepth survey with no possible benefit to himself or that ANet is trying to improve GW2 by getting feedback...

I got the e-mail. I applied for the Test Krewe, but that seems to vary between people who also got the e-mail.

Has everyone who got the e-mail also signed up for GW2 newsletters?

If you guys are unsure, just send an email to arenanet with the link and ask if its false. No harm done. It's a win-win situation.

I didn't get the email though
